About
An independent production company, founded in Atlanta in 2026.
How we started
Determinant Productions was founded in 2026 to produce engaging, challenging, and exciting work for stage and screen. We launched at the Atlanta Fringe Festival with Babylon Is An Action Verb, a new play written by founder and managing producer C. G. Brown.
What we believe
We are not a non-profit.
We respect and appreciate the incredible work non-profits have done to cultivate and support culture. But for what we're trying to do, a different shape fits better: Determinant Productions is a corporate entity with objectives other than shareholder return. That independence lets us produce theatre and film without compromise.
Each production is a distinct collaboration.
Every production is its own collaborative venture, with its own profit and loss. Every participant is a shareholder in the venture and is eligible to receive a portion of the profits.
A production's surplus is measured in art, not profit.
When a production returns a cash surplus, it flows to all collaborators, investors included. But investors do not have a privileged return on capital. In productions we lead, we specifically limit the shares investors are eligible to receive, regardless of contribution, so the emphasis stays on producing great art rather than maximizing profit.
Productions are collaborations among equals.
Roles are distinct, and they're honored: directors have final say on creative decisions, producers on financial ones. However, respect is not role-dependent. Engagement always comes from a place of respect for the value each collaborator brings, and for their inherent worth as a human.
